How often does a boiler need servicing?
3 min readPublished on 15 September 2026
There is no fixed interval that suits every boiler. How often servicing is needed depends on the manufacturer, the appliance itself, how you use it, and any conditions attached to your system or insurance.
What does the interval depend on?
Always check the manual for your own boiler. If you are unsure, we are happy to look at it with you during a visit.
- The manufacturer's guidance for your type of appliance.
- The age and condition of the boiler.
- How heavily the system is used.
- Conditions set by your system, warranty or insurance.
Servicing through the maintenance plan
The De Thermomeester maintenance plan includes scheduled servicing once every two years. The full arrangements are set out on the maintenance plans page.
What does a one-off service cost?
One-off boiler maintenance costs €189 including VAT, with the call-out charge within our service area and regular maintenance materials included. Repairs and replacement parts are not included.
If something extra turns out to be needed, we tell you what it is and what it costs before we go ahead, and only continue once you agree.
Why servicing is worthwhile
A service often reveals wear, debris and pressure problems before they turn into a breakdown, and it tells you what condition your boiler is in.
Have it checked sooner if
- the boiler locks out more often than you are used to;
- you regularly have to top up the water;
- you hear unusual noises;
- the radiators heat up unevenly.
